The New Reality of 2FA: Why We’re Changing How We Deliver Systems

ree

We’ve All Been There

You’re in the middle of an enjoyable evening ready to watch something, but forgot your password. Or you’re traveling and family, staff, or contractors text: “Can you approve this login, or send me the code?” Or worse, you’re stuck digging through emails for a “reset link” just to get Netflix back on. It’s annoying. It’s disruptive. And honestly, it’s become the new normal. We feel that pain too — as integrators, and just as everyday people. Professionally, we can’t finish systems until codes are entered. Personally, we know what it’s like to be inconvenienced for the tenth time that week. And clients don’t want to be dragged into every update and login approval. Everyone gets frustrated.

Why This Matters

What used to be simple — just a username and password — now turns into a chain of approvals. While 2FA and MFA does keep accounts safer, it’s also turned into a burden. For us, it slows down projects. For you, it interrupts life.

Why We’re Making a Change

The old way — relying on personal phones and ticking time bomb text approvals — just doesn’t work anymore. It leaves projects stuck in limbo and clients pulled into the weeds. So we’re changing how we handle it.

Our New Standard

1. Credential Continuity Service (Managed)

- We issue a dedicated iPad tied to an estate iCloud account.

- We create a dedicated secure Bitwarden vault. tied to an estate iCloud account.

- All your system and lifestyle logins (from Crestron to Netflix) are stored securely

.- Every code, prompt, and update routes through that device — not your personal phone.

- We audit quarterly and keep everything maintained in the background.

2. Credential Custody Transfer (Client-Managed)

- We’ll help enter your personal logins once onsite.

- After that, everything is yours to manage.

- If you ever need help again, it’s available on a time-and-materials basis.

What This Means for You

- Less disruption: No more being interrupted for random codes.- More complete systems: Projects wrap up cleanly and stay supported.- Clearer ownership: Accounts are either fully managed by us or fully in your hands — whichever you prefer.

Looking Ahead

2FA and MFA are not going away. If anything, it’s only becoming required and more restrictive and complex. By making this change, our goal is simple: fewer interruptions for you, fewer bottlenecks for us, and systems that actually feel finished. We know the struggle — we live it every day too. This policy is about taking that frustration off your plate and making the technology work the way it should.
